Towards object oriented, uiml-based interface descriptions for mobile devices

Abstract

Abstract: To avoid multiple works in designing user interfaces for different devices and interaction modalities, the use of a meta-language like UIML seems to be appropriate in order to start with a general UI description and provide mappings to different target devices. For the support of mobile devices and to improve re-usability of user interface definitions, we introduce the language DISL that modifies several parts of UIML and propose object oriented extensions with the conceptual language ODISL.
