Abstract

Dette er en masteroppgave ved 1-7 grunnskolelærerutdanningen på OsloMet. Oppgaven er en kvalitativ studie av læreres syn på arbeid med elever med norsk som andrespråk i begynneropplæringen. Problemstillingen jeg har valgt lyder som følger: Hvordan opplever lærere arbeidet med sosiale og språklige elementer med tanke på elever med norsk som andrespråk i begynneropplæringen? Formålet med denne er å belyse utfordringer elever med norsk som andrespråk møter i skolen, og hvordan lærere jobber for å bidra til en best mulig skolegang for disse elevene. Forskningsspørsmålene i studien er: 1. Hvordan er arbeidet med det sosiale med tanke på elever med norsk som andrespråk? 2. Hvordan er arbeidet med forståelse og ordforråd med tanke på elever med norsk som andrespråk? Dette gir muligheten til å se på problemstillingen med to ulike perspektiver. På den ene siden har man det sosiale, mens på den andre siden er det fokus på forståelse og ordforråd i en klasseromssituasjon. Som metode har jeg benyttet meg av kvalitative intervjuer med tre lærere som jobber i begynneropplæringen. Det viktigste funnet i studien er at lærerne jobber på måter som er anerkjent innenfor begynneropplæringsforskning for å styrke språket til elever med norsk som andrespråk. I tillegg gir informantene et innblikk i utfordringer og muligheter i møte med elever med norsk som andrespråk. This is a master's thesis for the 1-7 primary teacher education program at OsloMet. The thesis is a qualitative study of teachers' views on working with students with Norwegian as a second language in primary education. The research question is: How do teachers experience working with social and linguistic elements regarding students with Norwegian as a second language in beginner education? The purpose of this study is to shed light on the challenges that students with Norwegian as a second language face in school and how teachers work to contribute to the best possible education for these students. The research questions in the study are: 1. How is the work with the social aspect regarding students with Norwegian as a second language? 2. How is the work with understanding and vocabulary regarding students with Norwegian as a second language? This provides an opportunity to examine the research question from two different perspectives. On the one hand, there is the social aspect, while on the other hand, there is a focus on understanding and vocabulary in a classroom situation. As a method, I have used qualitative interviews with three teachers who work in beginner education. The main finding of the study is that the teachers work in ways that are recognized within beginner education research to strengthen the language of students with Norwegian as a second language.
