This article aims to evaluate the clinical aspects of preoperative care carried out in the last five years. Integrative review in the BVS, LILACS, SciELO, PubMed database of works published between 2020 and 2024, combining the descriptors "acute otitis media", "diagnosis" and "treatment" with the Boolean descriptor "AND". It is concluded that acute otitis media is a bacterial or viral infection of the middle ear, generally accompanying an upper respiratory tract infection. Symptoms include otalgia, often associated with systemic symptoms, especially in very young people. Diagnosis is based on otoscopy. Treatment involves analgesics and sometimes antibiotics.Este artigo tem por objetivo avaliar os aspectos clínicos dos cuidados pré-operatórios realizada nos últimos cinco anos. Revisão integrativa no banco de dados da BVS, LILACS, SciELO, PubMed de trabalhos publicados entre 2020 e 2024, combinando os descritores "otite média aguda", "diagnóstico" e "tratamento" ao descritor booleano "AND". Conclui-se que A otite média aguda é infecção bacteriana ou viral da orelha média, geralmente acompanhando infecção do trato respiratório superior. Os sintomas incluem otalgia, muitas vezes associada aos sintomas sistêmicos, especialmente em pessoas muito jovens. O diagnóstico baseia-se na otoscopia. O tratamento é feito com analgésicos e, às vezes, antibióticos
