Abstract

We have observed the magnetic-phase transitions of CeSb and CeBi by a magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy in the infrared region. The phase boundary is similar to that detected by neutron scattering. The optical spectra re#ect the electronic structures in the ordered states. The electronic structure and also the origin of the magnetic transition are discussed. # 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
