A Comparative Study of Job Values Of business Students in Bolivia and English Canada

Abstract

This article reports on the results of research on job-related perceptions and motivations of students in Bolivia and Canada. Data were collected from 590 English Canadians and 142 Bolivian students. The results indicated that there was no difference between the students' scores on the job factors and their achievement needs were similar. The Bolivian students were very negative towards economic performance of public sector business and negative towards social performance of both public and private sector business. The students' scores on Rokeach Value Scale indicated that the Bolivian students reflected a somewhat greater desire for spiritual, society-oriented outcomes and search for ultimate, absolute truths; Canadians emphasized more personal, materialistic and pleasure oriented approach to life.
