Proper regulating arousal isimportant in reducing neuropsychiatric symptoms in people withAlzheimer’s Disease (AD). Given this context, the use of musicalpredictability could therefore be an active element of music therapy inreducing neuropsychiatric symptoms in AD, through a proper regulationof arousal.Objective: to investigate the relationships between musical predictabilityand arousal regulation in people with and without AD, aiming to shedlight on arousal-regulation as an underlying mechanism of musictherapy for reducing neuropsychiatric symptoms in people with AD.Method: a quantitative experimental approach will be employed using awithin subjects design.                                                      Study 1 Objective: is to identify music therapeutic aspects and theiractive elements that, according to music therapists in Belgium,Germany and the Netherlands, are involved in reducingneuropsychiatric symptoms, such as apathy and agitation inpeople with dementia.
