This session will focus on three tools that provide faculty with alternatives to traditional LMS discussion boards. We will learn the basics of Wakelet, Padlet, and Flipgrid for gathering student thoughts, comments, and feedback. Students can respond toeach other via video or text response. Flipgrid alsocreates closed captions of responses. Website ormobile app. These can be run on the Flipgridwebsite or integrated into your LMS. PadletThis tool is a virtual online “corkboard”. This isgreat as an alternative to traditional onlinediscussion boards. This allows you to “pin” text,images, videos, audio, URLs and more to a boardto share with others. Anyone can participate inthe board if given the link. WakeletA terrific free resource gathering and sharing tool.Wakelet allows you to store your own resources(article, videos, images, text notes, Tweets andmore!) and then share or collaborate with others.It’s also terrific for creating an online “discussion”area for students to share their own resourceswith each other.
