Kárpát-medencei Környezettudományi Konferencia Szeged, 2023 május 17-19 137  In the next phase of the research, I performed laboratory analyses of water samples that were taken (from the same depth) near the turbidity probe. Based on the concentration of the sediment samples obtained in this way (total suspended load content) and the turbidity data continuously measured by the measuring probe, I tried to find a correlation between the near-bank turbidity values and the near-bank suspended sediment values. From the measurement results (on the basis of measurements carried out on the rising and falling limb of floodwaves), it can be concluded that the samplings carried out on the falling limb show a significantly better correlation with the near-bank sediment concentration. The correlation between the variables is definitely worse for the measurements made on the rising limb.  Based on the obtained results, further measurement campaigns are necessary (mostly in the higher range of the water regime) to assess the applicability of the above method for to estimate the suspended sediment transport of the river.   ________________________________________________________________   Environmental history of Lake Kolon based on sedimentological analysis  Vári Tamás Zsolt1*, Sümegi Pál1,2 1Department of Geology and Paleontology, University of Szeged; 2Hertelendi Laboratory of Environmental Studies, Institute of Nuclear Research of Hungarian Academy of Sciences *varitamaszsolt@gmail.com  Lake Kolon, which is situated between sand hills in the Danube-Tisza Interfluve, is an area that did not originate from oxbow lakes, as it is separated from the Danube floodplain and surface floods. This means that the accumulated sediment did not come from the Danube floods. Despite decades of geological research, there was no comprehensive sedimentological description and analysis of the lake. The aim of this study is to fill this gap by providing a fundamental analysis of the lake and bog sediments that formed over the last 20,000-30,000 years. The sedimentary sequence of Lake Kolon is unique and shows a composition of reed and sedge peat that is different from other European lacustrine sedimentary systems. The base of the lake sequence is pleistocene wind-blown sand. Also, it shows all three phases of lake development: The oligotrophic lake phase began around 17,700 BP with a slow silt gyttja development, followed by an increase in carbonate content that led to the mesotrophic lake phase with calcareous lacustrine sediment, starting from around 13,800 BP. Peat accumulation, along with the eutrophic lake phase, began at the Pleistocene-Holocene boundary around 11,700 BP. Hungary's first written remnant, the Tihany Founding Charter (1055), is connected to Lake Kolon, so it is not surprising that the environment of the lake changed drastically due to anthropogenic effects from the early Middle Ages.   18th Carpathian Basin Conference For Environmental Science Szeged, 17–19 May 2023 138  A Kolon-tó környezettörténete üledékföldtani elemzések alapján  A Kolon-tó a Duna-Tisza közi homokdűnék között található, amely eredetileg nem egy holtágból kialakult tó, mivel el van választva a Duna árterétől és a felszíni áradásoktól. Ez azt jelenti, hogy a felhalmozódott üledék nem a Duna áradásaiból szármzik. Évtizedek óta geológiai kutatások folynak, azonban nem áll rendelkezésre teljes körű üledékkel kapcsolatos leírás és elemzés a tóról. Ezen kutatás célja ennek az űrnek a kitöltése egy alapvető elemzést nyújtva a tavi és lápi üledékekről, amelyek az elmúlt 20 000-30 000 évben alakultak ki. A Kolon-tó üledéksorozata egyedülálló, a nád- és a sás-láp különleges összetételét mutatja, amely eltér más európai tavak üledéksorozataitól. A tavi rétegsor alapját plisztocén homok képezi. Az üledéksorozat mindhárom tófejlődési fázist jól mutatja: az oligotróf tófázis 17 700 évvel ezelőtt kezdődött egy lassú iszapos gyttja üledék felhalmozódásával, majd a karbonát tartalom növekedésével a mezotróf tófázis következett, amelynek kezdete körülbelül 13 800 évvel ezelőtt volt. A tőzeg felhalmozódása, valamint az eutróf tófázis a pleisztocén-holocén határán, körülbelül 11 700 évvel ezelőtt kezdődött. Magyarország első írásos szórványemléke, a Tihanyi alapítólevél (1055), a Kolon-tóhoz kapcsolódik. Pontosan ezért nem meglepő, hogy az emberi tevékenységből adódó antropogén hatások miatt a tó környezete jelentősen megváltozott a korai középkortól kezdve.
