The Isotopic Effect in the Nuclear Capture of Negative Muons in Xenon

Abstract

The lifetime of negative muons in 1sstate of ^129 Xe has been measured for the first time. The nuclear capture rate of muon for ^129 Xe is compared with the analogous results for ^132,136 Xe isotopes. The noticeable dependence of the nuclear capture rate of muon on mass number for the abovementioned isotopes is observed. The experimental results are compared with the ones calculated according to the semiempirical Goulard Primakoff formula
