FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE ANALYSIS IN THREE ALEC BENJAMIN’S SONG LYRIC

Abstract

A song is part of a beautiful literary work, it uses words that have many meanings implied in them.In a song, there can be a story or a message to be conveyed to the listeners. In addition, we can also become more motivated to do various things if we find a song that suits the conditions we are facing. Song, usually uses figurative language to make their song more beautiful and full of meaning. The research aimed to identify the type of figurative language used in Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyrics, its dominant type, and the meaning contained within them. The study focused on three research questions: "What figurative language types are used in Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyrics?", "What is the most dominant type of figurative language found in Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyric?", and "What is the meaning of the figurative language used in Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyrics?" The research employs a qualitative data analysis method to analyze Three Alec Benjamin Song Lyrics, identifying figurative language types within the lyrics. The data was grouped into 12 types, verified by an advisor, and then explained by the researcher, highlighting the meaning within the lyrics. The result of this research show that in Three songs by Alec Benjamin contain eight categories of figurative language, with a total of 43 lyrics that have been explained. The following types of figures of speech are: Simile, Hyperbole, Metaphor, Personification, Irony, Paradox, Repetition, and Symbolic
