HUBUNGAN SELF-ESTEEM DENGAN CELEBRITY WORSHIP PADA DEWASA AWAL PENGGEMAR BOYBAND

Abstract

The rise of popular culture in Indonesia originating from South Korea called Korean Wave or Hallyu Wave has led to the formation of fandoms in Indonesia. One of the large fandoms in Indonesia is NCTzens. Early adult NCT fans began to experience less celebrity worship. One of them is related to their self-esteem. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between self-esteem and celebrity worship in early adult NCT fans. The instruments used in this study are the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) created by Rosenberg to measure self-esteem and the Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS) created by Maltby et al. to measure celebrity worship. This research was conducted on 397 early adult NCT fans in Indonesia. The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between self-esteem and celebrity worship (r = -0.184; p < 0.000). The contribution level of self-esteem to celebrity worship is 3.4
