El artículo introduce elementos comunes y diferenciadores existentes entre Colombia y Venezuela con el objeto de contextualizar las actuales dinámicas que alimentan la relación binacional. Seguidamente aborda algunos de los fenómenos económicos que distorsionan la relación y que están siendo aprovechados por los nuevos actores ilegales en la zona fronteriza. Para posteriormente revisar cómo el narcotráfico y la ilegalidad han hecho mella en la seguridad e institucionalidad de los dos países. Y analiza sucintamente el fenómeno del flujo de venezolanos que están inmigrando a Colombia y sus posibles repercusiones.
