The multilevel inverter was chosen as one of the inverters used because the quality of the voltage produced is superior to other types of inverters. Even though it produces good voltage, multilevel inverters have the disadvantages of a large number of switching components, large size, and less than optimal THD. The various multilevel inverter designs used can reduce harmonics, and also the use of filters that reduce THD. In this research, we analyze THD in an electric power system using a 5 level h-bridge cascade with reduced switching components in the photovoltaic system. The test results showed that the conventional and modified 5 level h-bridge cascade voltage in the photovoltaic system was quite stable and not much different, namely at a voltage of 313 V for the conventional 5 level h-bridge cascade and 311 V for the modified 5 level h-bridge cascade. The THD in the photovoltaic system can reduce the output voltage THD which was originally 27.05% to 0.06% compared to the conventional 5 level h-bridge cascade which had an output voltage THD which was originally 40.37% to 9.83%
