Abstract

Background: Acute lung edema is an emergency condition that requires action as soon as possible because it will be fatal due to disruption of the gas exchange process in the alveoli, if not treated quickly it will have an impact on death. In this final scientific work, the case of a patient experiencing acute lung edema is raised. For this reason, this final scientific work aims to describe the process of nursing care for patients with acute lung edema at UMM Malang Hospital. Method: The research method used in the preparation of this Final Scientific Work uses case study reports. The author follows the scientific method according to the principles of the nursing process which include: Assessment, data analysis, nursing intervention, nursing implementation and evaluation. In the process of assessment the authors used data collection techniques such as anamnesis, observation and physical examination to collect various data from these patients. Results: After giving nursing care for 1 x 4 hours, the authors raised a priority diagnosis, namely ineffective breathing patterns associated with respiratory effort barriers (D.005) with the evaluation results of the problem not being resolved. Discussion: The problem of nursing ineffective breathing pattern in acute lung edema occurs in patients occurs due to accumulation of fluid in the lungs resulting in shortness of breath so that the patient experiences a decrease in oxygen saturation and results in hypoxemia, the action that has been carried out by the nurse is to fulfill the need for oxygenation to increase exchange gas, improves the work of breathing, and reduces the respiratory rate
