International audienceIn 2021, the museum Palais Lascaris, located in Nice (French Riviera) decided to conserve five exceptional panels in gilt, painted and punched leather. These pieces, created in the mannerist style of the end of the Renaissance, depict five figures from the Old Testament; all appear in full length on an abundantly punched background. This homogeneous ensemble was probably part of a larger décor that adorned the old synagogue of the city of Nice. The original and unusual story of the panels raised many questions.
