Before than the other health professionals, the medico-legal expert had to face the computerization of the Legal System. Over the years, even if not fully applied, innovations related to the digitalization of the trial such as the use of certified e-mail, digital signature and the Civil Telematic Process, have been introduced in the medico-legal and juridical field. Recently, the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic has allowed many to rediscover those potentials, only glimpsed and often forgotten, until the hypothesis of celebrating entire trials with telematic methods has been advanced.
