Abstract
In this article, we attempt to reflect on the importance of body to social analyses. Therefore, we based ourselves in four authors frequently cited in recent studies in which the body is mentioned as analytical category or empirical approach, that is: David Le Breton, Michael Foucault, Judith Butler, and Pierre Bourdieu. Our aim was to identify the importance of body to each of these authors. In general, we verified, however, that the importance of body keeps relationships to power even thought, this relationship is thinking in different ways. To Lebron, this relationship addressed from identities and existentialism approach; to Foucault, as materialization of power; to Butler as language, and Bourdieu as objectification of social.Neste artigo procuramos refletir sobre a importância do corpo para a análise do social. Para tanto, apoiamo-nos em quatro autores frequentemente referenciados na produção bibliográfica recente em que o corpo é acionado como categoria analítica ou dimensão empírica do estudo, a saber: David Le Breton, Michael Foucault, Judith Butler e Pierre Bourdieu. Nosso objetivo era identificar a importância do corpo para cada um destes autores. De um modo geral, verificamos que para todos eles o corpo está intimamente imbricado com o poder, seja como expressão de identidades e do existencialismo, Le Breton; como materialização do poder, Foucault; como linguagem, Butler ou, ainda, como objetivação do social, Bourdieu
