Eight Anthologies and Literary Characteristics

Abstract

Tamil is regarded as a classical language and rich in literary grammar.  The literature that appeared in the Tamil language is a testimony to the greatness of the Tamil language. The Sangam literature testifies to the fact that the Tamil land, which has an ancient civilization and culture dating back nearly two thousand years, is also rich in literature. The fact that the Sangam age was the golden age of the Tamil language is a testimony to its greatness. The ancient kings developed the Tamil language by forming sangams. These are three. Due to the immense affection of the Pandya kings towards the Tamil language, they formed three sangams for the promotion of the Tamil language. The first two societies were destroyed by the sea, while the third one remained.  The literary and grammatical texts created in the first two sangams were destroyed by the sea. The two volumes of the eight-story pathupattu composed in the third sangam are used to understand the merits of the Tamil language and the greatness of the Tamil language
