EDITORIALDear readers,We are pleased to present the latest volume of the Mongolian Journal of Chemistry for the year 2023. The volume contains 7 articles describing their original research results in the fields of material science, phytochemistry, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, and mineral processing. A cover image of the volume is selected from Nyamdelger Sh et al., introducing the copper extraction process from copper-containing leaching residues using water/acid leaching assisted by sulfation roasting. As the journal continues to grow, this year we have received significantly increased numbers of submitted manuscripts, over twice than in previous years, from 12 different countries. Importantly, about 80% of the submissions were from foreign countries. In addition, our journal CiteScore has kept around 1.0 stably while keeping its high-quality publications since indexed in the Scopus database in 2019. To continuously expand and improve our journal rating at the international level with a further aim of obtaining the journal impact factor (IF) in Clarivate Journal Citation Reports, we will gradually increase the publication numbers from next year. We are, therefore, planning and preparing to publish “two issues” in 2024 half-yearly that will be continued in the future. Accordingly, the number of our Editorial board members and scientific reviewers will be increased with international experts from diverse fields related to chemical science in the coming year to maintain the quality of the peer-review process.At the same time, to increase the attraction of high-quality papers and the paper’s citability, we will actively promote publishing “mini-reviews” and “method papers” (technological advancements) in addition to research articles in the journal. “A critical review” is also welcomed with prior consulting with the Editor-in-Chief. With these initiatives, we hope that our journal will successfully obtain the journal IF in the not-too-distant future.Lastly, we, the editorial team including associate editors of Dr. Enkhtuul Surenjav and Dr. Erdenechimeg Namjil, wish to express our deep appreciation to the editorial board members and all of our reviewers for their thoughtful and constructive comments in the reviewing process and all the authors who contributed to the journal.
