This seed was cut, weighed and treated with formulated dustson 21 Apr. After cutting and treating, seed was placed in heavy-weight plastic bags, looselyclosed to prevent condensation and stored at 42° F until planted. Potatoes were planted on 28Apr and irrigated by solid set sprinkler. The soil type was Portneuf silt loam. Five treatmentsand two untreated check plots were replicated four times in a RCB design. Individual plots were4 rows (36 inch row spacing) wide by 25 ft long with 5 ft alleyways separating the plots. Greenpeach aphids were mass reared on greenhouse mustard plants ('Chinese Cabbage') for releaseinto individual plots. Aphid releases were made into test plots on 17 Jun and 26 Jun. A total offour heavily infested leaves were released per plot on each date. Green peach aphid counts weremade weekly, from non-destructively sampling 20 leaves at random from the top, middle andbottom sections ofplants in the center two rows of each plot. The data collected and presented isthe total no. of aphids per 20 leaves sampled. Data were analyzed using ANOVA andStudentized-Tukeys multiple means comparison.Green peach aphid numbers were significantly reduced in most treatments from the untreatedchecks until 27 Jul.
