LaSalle, and I am currently in my second year at the University of Akron School of Law. I am writing to express interest in a clerkship beginning in the Fall of 1996. I am interested in a clerkship because of the practical experience that can be gained in both substantive and procedural law. I am very interested in a clerkship at the appellate court level, because of the unique experience of appellate decision-making. I feel that clerking for you would be especially rewarding. You have an outstanding reputation as a jurist, and I feel that I could learn a great deal by clerking for you. Further, I believe that I would be an excellent law clerk. As my resume indicates, I have developed strong analytical skills. In law school, I have been highly successful in all areas of legal study. My ability to analyze legal issues has been substantially augmented by my work at the U.S. Attorney's Office, where I have learned to work quickly with unfamiliar concepts. Also, I have developed strong writing skills. Due to my graduate studies, I entered law school with solid writing skills. Through my work with Law Review, Moot Court, and the U.S. Attorney's Office, I have improved those writing skills. Additionally, because of my debate experience, I am a very strong researcher. I am equally adept at "book research" or computer assisted research, and I pride myself on fast, efficient and thorough research. Finally, I am a very hard worker who thrives on being challenged, and I work well with others. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to clerk for you, and I am available for an interview at your convenience.
