By engaging with relevant literature and standards, students will gain insight into the opportunities and challenges that AI presents to social work practice. The assignment aims to enhance students' knowledge and skills regarding the impact of AI on the profession and its clients. Skills:   • Analyze the challenges and opportunities AI presents to the social work profession.   • Articulate a foundational understanding of potential impact of artificial intelligence to social work practice.     Knowledge: • This assignment will familiarize students with fundamental understating of AI and its potential impact to social workers, and their clients.  It will encourage students to critically evaluate AI’s role in shaping the future of social work practice. Tasks:   Read a journal article assigned by instructor.    Review NASW, ASWB, CSWE and CSWA Standards for Technology in Social Work Practice:   https://www.socialworkers.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=bq9JrB-oVm4%3d&portalid=0 Review NASW Code of Ethics:  https://www.socialworkers.org/About/Ethics/Code-of-Ethics/Code-of-Ethics-English • Examine and interpretate the potential impact of AI on future social work practice based on the provided journal article, standards and NASW Code of Ethics.  • Identify both the advantages and disadvantages of integrating artificial intelligence in your envisioned future social work practice. • Write a 2-page reflection paper.  In this reflection, analyze and predict how AI might influence your future practice.  Consider the ethical implications of engaging with AI, strategies for preparation, and potential impacts on clients’ well-being.  Evaluate the author’s biases in presenting their perspective and reflect on your own biases as well.   Criteria for Success:   Upon completion students should: • Provide a comprehensive list of at least four pros and four cons of integrating AI into social work practice. • Summarize their interpretation of the readings and demonstrate a clear understanding of the potential impacts of AI on their envisioned future social work practice.  • Address the biases present in the author’s perspective and recognize their own biases in their reflective analysis.
