Abstract

Plywood is a product that is in great demand as a raw material in the needs of society. Three-layer plywood products consist of veneer face, core, and back. Three-layer plywood material type sengon wood (Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen) strength and quality of plywood lies in the arrangement of the core, the connection and without connection veneer core can affect the quality of plywood in it. Plywood products from small industries are tested including physical properties (moisture content, specific gravity, and thickness swelling) and mechanical (MoE and MoR) with the results to be compared with SNI. Tests on the calculation using the formula based on SNI 03-2105-2006, as well as on plywood cutting work procedures based on ASTM D3501-05AR18 Complete Randomized Design to determine the effect of 3-layer plywood on water content data, specific gravity, thickness swelling, MoE, and MoR. Statistical analysis is Anova two way with interaction between one, three and without veener core connection and plywood thickness of 3 mm and 5 mm. In the test of physical properties of plywood 3 layers of wood type sengon average value of water content test 7.0%, specific gravity test 0.361 and test thickness swelling 11.93%. While in the mechanical properties test the average value of MoE test 33132.70 kg/cm², and MoR test 329.74 kg/cm². A significant interaction of thickness and joint factors was obtained in the MoE mechanical properties test. The resulting product can be recommended for furniture and home interior support materials
