Investigation of different hydrophobic silica aerogel granules as potential aggregate in concrete

Abstract

Structural lightweight concrete was developed by embedding commercially available silica aerogel granules in a high-strength cement matrix, leading to so-called high-performance aerogel concrete. Investigation included the pore-size distribution of the aerogels and their thermal decomposition under nitrogen or air, and the strength and thermal conductivity of the final aeroel concrete
