The Game Banquet and Spring Foresters Day were both successful. With Glenn Johnson pushing his staff the '71 Ames Forester was the best ever.</p

Forestry  CIubThe  Game  Banquet  and  Spring  Foresters  Daywere both successful.  With  Glenn Johnson pushinghis staff the '71 Ames Forester was the best ever.This  year  was  an  outstanding  year  for  the  club.With enough volunteers the veishea display turnedout very  nice  and with  a  minimal amount of workfrom  all  involved.  The  Club  also  helped  fence  theAmes  prairie  during the  spring.This  fall  started  out  with  the  Forestry  and Out-door  Recreation  clubs  merging  together.  The  mainreason for the  merger  was  due  to  the  fact  thatForestry  and   Outdoor  Recreation  work  togetherafter  college  so why  not  work  jointly  while in  col-legs.   After  merging  our  membership  has  soaredand Veishea of '72 should be great.The  turnout  for  the  freshman  welcome  at  HoistTract was very  impressive  considering the weatherwas  not  on  our  side.   Besides  the  welcome,  somethinning,  clean  up  around  the  shed,  rerunning  theboundaries  and  planning  a  Nature  Trail  were  allstarted to a degree.Participation in intramurals has been outstanding.Football,  basketball,  hockey,  volleyball  and  vleS-tling are sports we have  competed in and had a lotof fun at even if we do not win each time.With Pat Psarik,  Harris Kramer  and  Walt Kalenpushing, Fall Forester's  Day  turned out to be a tre-mendous  success.  The  turnout  was  tremendous,  allMES  FORESTER6Icontestants enjoyed the events, especially the cancerace, even the audience enjoyed the dizzy izzy race.Prizes were awarded through third place with manypeople taking home a trophy of sorts.Starting  with  winter  quarter   came   the   armunlChristmas  tree  sales  which  is  our  money  makingproject, netting almost $500 for the Club.  Thoughmany  people  pitching  in  a  little  and  walt  Karenleading, everyone did a minimal amount of work.With the  coming  of  January,  snow should  settleupon  us  so  the  ski  party  which  has  been plannedsince fall quaLrter may  be held.  The  ski party is onthe club from Christmas tree sales. A raffle is beingheld at the ski party with the prizes consisting of asleeping bag, sheepskin rug, tobogan, ice skates anda  compass.  Hopefully  this  raffle  will  be  a  successwith a little more than just breaking even being ac-complished. Also planned during the winter monthsis a tobogan party at Hoist Tract.Springtime brings  the  installation of new officersat the Game Banquet. Plans for the Game Banquetare  already  well  unde-I  way.Due to the combining of the two clubs the futurelooks very bright. Many things can be accomplishedby  members   from  both   curriculurus   working  to-gether.
