In the first part of this article, the author deals with the history of civil proceedings in the United States of America, the organization of the courts, basic rules of the appellate procedure, cases in which the appeal is allowed, as well as the content of the notice of appeal. The author then discusses who can submit appeal, when can appeal can be submitted, the jurisdiction of the District court for the appellate procedure, as well as the possibility of the alternative dispute resolution in the stage of appeal. The author also deals with certain doctrines such as the Mootness doctrine as well as the Merger rule.U prvom delu ove monografije autor se bavi istorijatom građanskog sudskog postupka SAD, oranizacijom sudova u SAD, osnovnim pravilima za postupanje po žalbi, slučajevima u kojima je žalba dozvoljena, kao i sadržinom žalbenog podneska.
Zatim, autor razmatra koja lica mogu da ulože žalbu, kao i vreme podnošenja žalbe, nadležnost Okružnog suda za postupanje po žalbi, te alternativne načine rešavanja sporova u stadijumu žalbe.Autor se u ovom delu takođe bavi i nekim doktrinama, kao na primer doktrinom o predmetima u kojima više ne postoji spor kao i pravilom o integrisanju
