Tegal regency has a coral reef ecosystems by local communities called
Jeruk Coral Reef. Data from observations at the time of the study in 2011 showed
that the conditions of life coral on the reefs in the waters of the Coral Orange in
2011 to 24.87% - 53.33%. Some coral reef rehabilitation efforts that have been
made in Indonesia, among others, is to develop a coral transplantation techniques,
artificial reefs, as well as methods of mineral accretion (biorock technology).
The purpose of this study is to know growth and the growth rate and
survival rate of the transplanted branching Acropora with biorock® method in the
waters of the Jeruk Coral Reef Tegal regency.
The research material used in this study is the genus Acropora corals in the
waters of the Jeruk Coral Reef Tegal regency as an object to be observed. The
method used in this research is the method of experiment and observation. And
Then analyzed through Students t-test using SPSS version 16 for Windows.
Based on the research results Acropora absolute growth in biorock® station
is greater than the absolute growth in the control station, either for high or
diameter. Absolute growth can be seen high on biorock® station 44.9750 ±
15.3901 mm and in control stations 2.1675 ± 0.6726 mm diameter and absolute
growth in biorock® station 0.8350 ± 0.2177 mm and in control stations 0 , 2025 ±
0.0835 mm. The growth rate of Acropora in biorock® station faster than the
growth rate in the control station, either for high or diameter. Can be seen high
growth rate in the station biorock® month 11.2438 ± 3.8475 mm-1 while the
control station 0.5419 ± 0.1682 mm month-1 as well as the growth rate in diameter
at the station biorock® 0.2088 ± 0.0544 mm month-1 while the control station
0.0506 ± 0.0209 mm month-1. The survival rate of coral on biorock® station and
control station 100%.
