This study had as objective to recognize the main attributions and actions developed by Social Workers from the Support Groups/Associations of parents and patients with cleft lip and / or hearing impairment (15). The actions, reveal the political, ethic and technical-operative dimensions in the professional practice, in the attendance of the demands that, requiring from the professional competence in its most broad and current sense, in the creation of confrontational strategies of this reality in which the fulfillment of the rights of citizenship are still presented as a challenge.Este estudo teve como objetivo (re)conhecer a principais atribuições e ações do desenvolvidas pelos Assistentes Sociais das Associações de pais e pacientes com fissura labiopalatina e/ou deficiência auditiva (15). As ações efetivaram as dimensões política, ética e técnico-operativa na prática dos profissionais, no atendimento das demandas, exigindo do profissional competência, no seu sentido mais amplo e atual, na criação de estratégias de enfrentamento dessa realidade em que a efetivação dos direitos de cidadania ainda se apresentam como um desafio
