Check it out ifyou haven't had it!Q. Evil Czech vs. Crooked Ewe?A. For the same reasons above, Crooked Ewe wins. I'm more of a BBQ guy, anyway.Q. What's better: Ithaca, NY or South Bend, IN? Please elaborate.A. As they say, Ithaca is gorges. Hard to compete with 100+ ft waterfalls and a town thathas more restaurants per capita than NYC (i'm a food guy). Sorry, South Bend.Submit questions here for our next Ask a 3L with Joe Ferraro!JACKIE'S CORNER:So this weekend I was chatting with Joan Cusack about our dreams versus our jobs (Ithelps to know- because I guarantee you that at least Colton doesn’t know- Joan Cusack,along with her brother, John Cusack, are famous actors). A cool thing about Joan is thatshe owns a store and she’s truly in love with it.Anyway, mid-conversation she told me that the most wonderful thing that’s happened toher is that in the middle of a California airport, I forget which, a woman approached herand said “Oh my god, you’re the lady that owns that STORE that I love!” She was so tickledthat she was recognized for that reason (and not the fact that she slayed Adams Family 2because she absolutely did). And I realized in that moment that it’s really indicative you’redoing the right thing with your life when you’re happy about your reputation. The cliche here of course is that the grass is always greener on the other side, but it reallyputs things into perspective. Like for example, maybe just because people have fame,doesn’t mean they have self-success. Just because they’re successful to you, doesn’t meanthey consider themselves successful. Just because they do one thing really well for 30 yearsdoesn’t mean they can’t pivot into something they love even more. We talked about this fora while.Maybe we don’t have to be so grandiose or complicated. Maybe when we get a little older,we’ll realize that the hustle didn’t give us the results that we wanted in the end.Maybe 20 years from now, you’ll get your biggest piece of happiness from the fact thatsomeone recognizes you for being the lawyer who put a child killer in prison or a judgewho halted an unjust law. Maybe you’ll feel greater relief from being recognized as themost popular little league coach in town, the church’s greatest soprano, an entertainingeye-witness on a local news station who went viral. Maybe you’ll realize that law isn’t foryou, and you’ll be known as the person who sings the national anthem at the beginning ofevery Bruins game. Maybe you’ll invent something. Maybe you’ll start a dive bar thatbridges the social gaps in a community. Maybe you’ll be delighted in that no one knowsyou for anything in particular at all. Whatever you do, I hope you can be happy with your legacy. Don’t stress about it. Just…dowhat you came here to do.
