We use measurementsof longest leaf length (LLL) over a three-year period for three species of bromeliads (Aechmea recurvata,Billbergia brasiliensis, and Vriesea rafaelii) grown in a greenhouse in a controlled environment to estimategrowth rates and maximum LLL for each species. We fit a Beverton-Holt growth model to the growth data ofthe three bromeliad species using a linear regression applied to transformed data. We parsed the data in twoways: yearly growth and six-month growth. Our results indicate that A. recurvata has the largest growthrate and the smallest maximum LLL, B. brasiliensis has the largest maximum LLL, and V. rafaelii has thesmallest growth rate. Fitting the model to the six-month data produced a higher coefficient of determinationcompared to the yearly data.
