This article is a trial of sketching a few important themes in the philosophy of history of Polish historian and publicist, Pawel Jasienica. Subject to the analysis are mainly parts of his fundamental corpus of works, from “Polska Piastów” (“Poland of the Piasts”), through “Polska Jagiellonów” (“Poland of the Jagiellonians”), to “Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów” (“Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth”). The first of the topics considered is the ontology of history: its status, its subject (which, as it turns out, is the state), and the historical process. Then, the discussion turns to the ends of history, out of which the most important ones are maintaining sovereignty and the development of culture. The next part of the article is the analysis of numerous “historical factors”, shaping the course of history, that Jasienica distinguishes in his works. It ends by considering what possibility of shaping the course of history – both by individuals and by communities – are recognized by our author.Artykuł stanowi próbę zarysowania istotnych wątków filozofii dziejów polskiego historyka i publicysty: Pawła Jasienicy. Analizie poddaje się przede wszystkim fundamentalny dla tego autora korpus jego dzieł od „Polski Piastów”, przez „Polskę Jagiellonów”, po „Rzeczpospolitą Obojga Narodów”. Pierwszym rozważanym tematem jest ontologia dziejów: ich status; podmiot, którym okazuje się być państwo; oraz proces dziejowy. Następnie mowa jest o celach dziejów, spośród których najważniejszymi okazują się być utrzymanie suwerenności oraz rozwój kultury. Kolejną część artykułu stanowi omówienie rozlicznych „czynników dziejowych”, kształtujących bieg historii, które wyróżnia w swych dziełach Jasienica.
