State of Dementia Care in Bénin (West Africa)

Abstract

International audienceConclusion Even though no dementia plan or formal long-term care system exist for PWD in Benin, many healthcare and social facilities implement actions which deserve to be structured and scaled-up. Methods Aims To appraise existing dementia policies and plans, and describe available healthcare facilities for people living with dementia (PWD) in Benin. Bibliographic review of national strategic documents, Interviews with Health system stakeholders, focus group discussions with Patients, Caregivers & Associations. 2-day seminar with the different stakeholders Identification and description of healthcare and social care facilities offering specialised services for PWD
