Windows-käyttöjärjestelmän päivitys laajassa työasemaympäristössä

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantaja oli Teknologian tutkimuskeskus VTT OY. Opinnäytetyössä tarkasteltiin Windows-käyttöjärjestelmän käyttöönottoa. Organisaatiossa siirryttiin vähitellen uuteen käyttöjärjestelmäversioon, kun tietokoneiden vaihto tuli ajankohtaiseksi. Nykyisen käyttöjärjestelmäversion tuki jatkuu vuoteen 2025 saakka, joten jo käytössä olevia tietokoneita ei päivitetty. Opinnäytetyöprosessissa tutustuttiin päivitysprosessiin ja uuden käyttöjärjestelmäversion ominaisuuksiin ja mahdollisiin uusiin asetuksiin. Tehtäviin kuului myös testata uuden version päivityksiä sekä suunnitella päivityksen toteuttaminen. Projektin lopputuloksena organisaation uusien tietokoneiden käyttöjärjestelmät päivitettiin Windowsin uusimpaan versioon (Windows 11). Projekti helpottaa pitämään organisaation toimistotietokoneet ajan tasalla ja tietoturvallisina. Projektin jälkeen organisaatiossa jatketaan uusien Windows 11-versioiden testausta ja jakelua tietokoneisiin.The purpose of this thesis was to implement a new version of the Windows operating system of the client, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The implementation of the new operating system version will happen through computer leasing exchanges and since support for the current version of Windows will continue until 2025, the computers already in use were not updated. The goal of the thesis was to become familiar with the updating process and the features of the new operating system version and any possible new settings. The process included testing the update of the operating system and planning the implementation of the update. As a result of the project, the operating systems on the client’s computers were updated to the latest version of Windows (Windows 11). This thesis work makes it easier to keep the client’s computers up-to-date and secure. After this project, the client will continue testing and distributing new Windows 11 versions to its computers. This way they can ensure that their computers’ security is maintained
