Abstract
The aim of this work is to reconstruct the life of Augustine of Hippo from the historical perspective of his own time. Considering this aim, the bibliographical revision included the analysis of his valuable writings as well as the different authors that influenced his life and work. Augustine, the future bishop of Hippo, came to be the most influential thinker, so much so that his ideas, that existed among romanitas and chistianitas, marked the destiniy of Western Europe. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue reconstruir la vida de Agustín de Hipona desde la perspectiva histórica de su época. Con esta finalidad, la revisión bibliográfica llevada a cabo incluyó el análisis tanto sus valiosos escritos como los de los diversos autores que influyeron en su vida y obra. Agustín, el futuro obispo de Hipona, llegó a ser el pensador más influyente de su tiempo al punto que sus ideas, que cabalgaron entre la romanitas y la christianitas, marcaron el destino de la Europa Occidental
