Presumably, geographic areas such as LMIAC where the incidence of stroke and its resultant disability aphasia, have greatly increased resulting in physical, economic, and social consequences would be the champions in providing quality stroke care. However, these resource-constrained areas face a lot of challenges. Mr. X, an uneducated bread winner of his family who lived 16 kilometres from the nearest hospital experienced a stroke. The family finally accessed health care after 3 days with a motorbike. Nonetheless, the only CT scan at the hospital was broken. Even though Mr. X experienced difficulty communicating, he was not provided speech therapy services due to the lack of services.  Indeed, “stroke is a cause of poverty and poverty is caused by stroke”. Stroke guidelines specific to LMIAC are needed to address challenges such as those faced by Mr. X and his family.
