Primeiro registo de trilobites no Silúrico de Portugal

Abstract

We report the first occurrence of trilobites in the Silurian of Portugal, from a Ludlow-Pridoli sequence of shale and limestone intercalations of the Campanhó Formation, located in Mós, Moncorvo syncline. Rare and fragmentary material allowed the identification of the encrinurid Cromus sp. and a phacopid resembling Denckmannites. The fossil assemblage supports the proposed paleogeographical model for this sector of the Central Iberian Zone together with NW Spain, Pyrenees and Catalonia, similar to those of the Ossa Morena Zone, North Africa and Bohemia
