The purpose of this research is to understand and describe the implementation of Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) in Muhammadiyah Senior high school 1 Yogyakarta. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with case study approach. The sample technique used purposive sampling. Methods of data collection using observation, interview, documentation and literature study. Data analysis is done by data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of this research is Muhammadiyah Senior high school 1 Yogyakarta substantially has implemented GLS with innovation and according to its comprehension, include reading Al-Qur'an 10 minutes before learning, reading non-learning book include with learning, and assessment of values understanding in the Qur'an is then communicated through the sermon on what the students read. The role of libraries in supporting the application of GLS has been in accordance with the standard role of the library written in the GLS guidebook in Ministry of Education and Culture 2016 covering the utilization of reading areas, reading angles and libraries, the procurement of reading according to the needs of libarian, and already the development of reading angles. Finally, the library of Muhammadiyah Senior high school 1 Yogyakarta has activities that are in accordance even exceed the standards written in the GLS guidebook from Ministry of Education and Culture. Based on the results of this study there are some suggestions that need an evaluation of the ideal standard of application of GLS both by the government and schools, need a persuative approach, increased cooperation with parents and more massive socialization of the GLS to all school residents, and hope this research can be used as a springboard for further research primarily related The role of libraries and GLS comparatively
