Abstract
The critics have been unanimous in their opinion that, independently of his scientific value, Coromines has to be considered an excellent writer in Catalan, both in the way of developing his thinking and in his use of particular words, phrases and constructions. However, with a few exceptions, these opinions have never been founded on actual examples. The present paper gathers a few of these opinions and tries to provide specific evidence for them, derived from the two great dictionaries of the author. Keywords: Joan Coromines, writer, style, literary language
