La cerámica de los afluentes del Guaporé en la colección de Erland von Nordenskiöld

Abstract

During his journey along the Guaporé and its tributaries between 1908 and 1909, Erland von Norden skiöld collected ceramic sherds from various sites in the region. These finds, now located in the Världskulturmuseet in Gothenburg, Sweden, have remained unpublished until now. Since archaeological data on the Guaporé region are still scarce, I present a detailed analysis of the entire collection. The materials derive from sites enclosed by circular ditches that may date to the same late pre-Hispanic period. It is, therefore, striking to see that each of the sites visited by Norden skiöld yielded ceramics with distinct regional styles. It is not possible to determine if this heterogeneity refl ects cultural diversity in the region prior to the Spanish contact or chronological differences without further archaeological investigation. The article will be available as a PDF in the near future.Durante su viaje entre 1908 y 1909 por el río Guaporé y sus afl uentes Erland von Norden skiöld recolectó fragmentos cerámicos en varios sitios arqueológicos. Estos hallazgos que forman parte de las colecciones del Världskulturmuseet en Gotemburgo, permanecieron inéditos hasta la fecha. Debido a que los datos arqueológicos de la región del Guaporé son todavía escasos, presento en este artículo gran parte de la colección documentada, así como los resultados del análisis comparativo teniendo en cuenta todos los datos hasta ahora disponibles. Estos materiales provienen de sitios bordeados por zanjas y supuestamente son coetáneos y datan de fi nales del período prehispánico. Por lo tanto, es sorprendente ver que cada uno de los sitios visitados por Norden skiöld presenta un estilo cerámico regional diferente. Si esta heterogeneidad refleja la diversidad cultural en la región antes del contacto español o se debe a diferencias cronológicas, no se puede resolver sin más investigaciones arqueológicas
