The Dynamic Systems Theory arised from a new approach of studing coordenation and control of movements. during the 70s and 80s. in opposition to other existing perspectives. This new theoretical conception was formmulated by TURVEY and collabors (1980), taking into consideration the ideas of coordination and control of movements proposed by Bernstein. and the theory of direct perception proposed by Gibson. According to the Dynamic Systems Theory. it is through self-organization among other principles that one can understand the apperance of new forms of behavior under the action of real time. during the course of development. The aim of this work was to identify the contributions of Dynamic Systems Theory for the study of human motor development. After revision of the literature. it was concluded that the developmental trajectory is seen by Dynamic Systems Theory as a continual and dynamic process; and the conception of development as a linear and predetermined process is no tanger accepted by this new approach. The process of development is seen not as a stationary one. but as a dynamically changing process affected by its sorounding space and the different sub-systems which form the organism.A Teoria dos Sistemas Dinâmicos surgiu de uma nova abordagem ao estudo da coordenação e controle do movimento, nas décadas de 70 e 80, contrapondo-se às outras perspectivas existentes. Esta nova concepção teórica foi formulada por TURVEY e colaboradores (1980), tendo por base as idéias de coordenação e controle do movimento propostas por Bernstein, e a teoria da percepção direta de Gibson. De acordo com a Teoria dos Sistemas Dinâmicos. é através da auto¬organização entre outros princípios. que se pode entender a emergência de novas formas de comportamento sobre a ação do tempo real. no curso do desenvolvimento. Este trabalho visou identificar as contribuições da Teoria dos Sistemas Dinâmicos para o estudo do desenvolvimento motor humano. Após revisão da literatura. concluiu-se que a trajetória desenvolvimental é vista pela Teoria dos Sistemas Dinâmicos como um processo contínuo e dinâmico; sendo que a concepção de desenvolvimento dada como linear e pré-determinada. não é mais aceita por esta nova abordagem. O processo de desenvolvimento é visto como não-estacionário. dinamicamente mudando e sendo afetado pelo espaço que o cerca e os diferentes sub¬sistemas que compõe o organismo
