The article attempts to present the institution of temporary removal of an animal from its owner or keeper, as specified by the legislator in Art. 7 of the Animal Protection Act of 1997. The possibility of issuing a decision on the temporary removal of an animal plays an extremely important role in the area of legal protection of animals because it allows taking relatively fast and real actions to prevent further harm to an animal by the person who should care for it and take care of its proper functioning conditions. The author of the article, on the basis of the analysis of the law, the literature on the subject and the jurisprudence, discusses the rules governing the issuance of decisions on the temporary removal of animals resulting both from Art. 7 paragraph 1 of the Animal Protection Act (treating the removal of animals in the so-called ordinary mode) and from Art. 7 paragraph 3 of this Act (the so-called intervention mode).W artykule podjęto próbę przedstawienia instytucji czasowego odebrania zwierzęcia jego właścicielowi lub opiekunowi określonej przez ustawodawcę w art. 7 ustawy o ochronie zwierząt z 1997 r. Możliwość wydania decyzji o czasowym odebraniu zwierzęcia odgrywa niezwykle istotną rolę w obszarze prawnej ochrony zwierząt, ponieważ pozwala podjąć stosunkowo szybkie i realne działania uniemożliwiające dalsze krzywdzenie zwierzęcia przez osobę, która powinna się nim opiekować i dbać o odpowiednie warunki jego funkcjonowania. Autorka opracowania, na podstawie analizy przepisów, literatury przedmiotu oraz orzecznictwa, omówiła w nim reguły obowiązujące w zakresie wydawania decyzji o czasowym odebraniu zwierzęcia, wynikające zarówno z art. 7 ust. 1 u.o.z. (traktującego o odbiorze zwierzęcia w tzw. trybie zwykłym), jak i z art. 7 ust. 3 u.o.z. (tzw. tryb interwencyjny)
