The article offers a reconstruction of Tadeusz Różewicz’s poetic explorations that took place in the early period of his work (the volumes Niepokój and Czerwona rękawiczka). Attention is focused on the relationship of the poetics of his poems to Józef Czechowicz’s work. Starting with an analysis of the poem Matka powieszonych, juxtaposed with Czechowicz’s Żal, related motifs and images are observed to trace the two-way shifts of Różewicz’s aesthetics in relation to those of the author of nuta człowiecza: toward brutalization and “harsh aesthetic values,” as well as toward a “cleansing” of the poetic foreground and carefully worked-out asceticism. The area of research extends to other works by Różewicz from the second half of the 1940s and the varied practices of revaluation of individual elements of the foreground (taking into account the function of detail), as well as poetic attributes of the background (the head, the moon, face, mouth, elements of topography, colors, oppositions of darkness and light, the figure of the mother, etc.). Treścią artykułu jest rekonstrukcja poetyckich poszukiwań Tadeusza Różewicza, które miały miejsce we wczesnym okresie jego twórczości (tomiki Niepokój i Czerwona rękawiczka). Uwaga koncentruje się na związkach poetyki jego wierszy z twórczością Józefa Czechowicza. Wychodząc od analizy wiersza Matka powieszonych, zestawionego z Żalem Czechowicza, obserwacji poddano pokrewne motywy i obrazy, by prześledzić dwukierunkowe przesunięcia estetyki Różewiczowskiej w stosunku do poetyki autora nuty człowieczej: w stronę brutalizacji i „wartości estetycznych ostrych”, jak też w stronę „oczyszczania” poetyckiego przedpola i starannie wypracowa-nej ascezy. Obszar badań rozszerza się na inne utwory Różewicza z drugiej połowy lat czterdziestych oraz zróżnicowane praktyki rewaloryzacji poszczególnych elementów pierwszego planu (z uwzględnieniem funkcji detalu), jak i poetyckich atrybutów tła (głowa, księżyc, twarz, usta, elementy topografii, kolorystyka, opozycje mroku i światła, postać matki itp.)
