The current state of knowledge, considering the early mediaeval settlement found at the site no. 6 in Biskupin, is based on an archaeological research results conducted in the years 1949–1954, published in a monography by Włodzimierz and Zofia Szafrańscy „From Research of the Early Medieval Rural Settlement at Biskupin”. Recorded remains of the early mediaeval structures were interpreted as relics of two settlement’s stages. The first one, dated between 9thand 10th-century, is marked with a guardhouse (stróżamostowa) located next to two fosses, where the inhabitants of a boroughwere engaging production furnaces. Second stage is a roundling village dated on 10th–11th-century, which was a continuation of anotherborough located ata site no. 4. Together with the borough and three more coexisting settlements recorded at sites no. 2a, 15 and 18, second phase created the biggest, rural settlement complex.Mentioned monography was criticized and showed that its research results should be verified, and artefacts should be analysed one more time. It is very clear that the research paper is not finite and should be considered as a base for further verification, and updating of knowledge about the early mediaeval settlement at the site no. 6 which has been already started.Artykuł dotyczy aktualnego stanu wiedzy na temat wczesnośredniowiecznej osady zarejestrowanej na stanowisku 6 w Biskupinie. Wyniki te wymagają weryfikacji i aktualizacji, a materiał źródłowy ponownej analizy
