Two cysteine endopeptidases from latex of Araujia angustifolia (araujiain aI and araujiain aIII) were purified and characterized by means of conventional and proteomics techniques (MALDI-TOF). N-terminal sequences showed a high percentage of identity with cysteine proteinases belonging to the papain family.
