Category: Teachmeet Title: Enhancing research visibility and impact of the University Medical Center Groningen – The role of the Central Medical Library Pure team  Statement of purpose: The purpose of this teachmeet contribution is to share our way of working with our research system Pure and the services that we provide for our medical institution and for society as a whole. We would like to exchange knowledge with other users of a current research information system (CRIS) and/or institutional repository.   Background: Scientific research is for a major part publicly funded; therefore, the public should also have access to the results of that research. The Central Medical Library plays an important role in making research output of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) open access via Pure, with which we play an active part in facilitating knowledge creation, not only in the communities of the UMCG but also society in general.  Since 2013, Pure is the CRIS of the UMCG and University of Groningen. The main goal of Pure is to optimize the visibility and, accessibility of research output from the University of Groningen and the UMCG, as well as to enable the creation of analyzes, and reports based on this research output. The Central Medical Library and the University Library both have its own Pure team. Throughout the years, we developed our way of working with Pure based on the needs of the researcher of the UMCG, and of the needs of departments and the institution as a whole.  More and more researchers are finding their way to Pure and the Pure team, largely thanks to the workshops and talks given by our information specialists at the departments of the UMCG. We encourage researchers to enter their research into Pure, but as a service to unburden them we also pro-actively import research output from Web of Science, Scopus and Pubmed. All research output entered into Pure is checked by the Pure support staff and metadata is enriched if necessary. The full text of the publication is made available online within the legal regulations and possibilities of Open Access, such as the Dutch Taverne amendment. This creates a validated set of research output that can be used for several services.  The research portal of the University of Groningen then shows this validated set on pages for the research institutes, research programmes and personal profiles of the researchers, which enhances the visibility of the research. This set is also used in both internal and external analysis, for example to show research impact or open access statistics.   One of the services where we make use of this validated set is supporting the Research Office (RO) with evaluation reports, every year, which are a standard in the Netherlands. Our role in this is to train a team of medical student assistants, hired by the Research Office, on how to work with Pure and how to correctly enter records into Pure.   With the constant development of Pure, adding more options to collect and refine the research data, it gives us the opportunity to evolve with it and grant the best services to our institution.   Summary and activities:  The Pure team of the Central Medical Library makes research output of the researchers of the UMCG visible and accessible on a large scale. We also play a major role in generating analyzes and reports based on these research results. By means of this teachmeet we wish to share useful tips and ideas on how we do this. Participants will receive a handout with more detailed information about our services and what we achieved so far. They will also be given our contact information so that they can contact us directly.
