IL 61702-2900 (309) 556-3181 30 January 2002 CONTACT: Stew Salowitz, 309-556-3206 IWU Cheerleaders to Compete in Nationals BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- For the second straight year, the Illinois Wesleyan University basketball cheerleading squad has qualified to compete at the National Cheerleader Association college championships April 4-5. IWU, which is currently ranked No. 7 nationally, will compete against 19 other squads in the "All-Girls Division 2" category at the competition in Daytona Beach, Fla. The finals are to be telecast on CBS. The Illinois Wesleyan University cheerleading team consists of: Megan Leach (team co-captain), senior, Morris (HS) Naorni Kato-Stamper (team co-captain), senior, Chicago (Niles North HS) Lora McElvain, senior, Kewanee (Wethersfield HS) Christina Eyer, junior, Anchor (Ridgeview HS) Sarah Poland, junior, Mattoon (HS) Leslie Minnich, junior, Wheeling (HS) Kari Wise, junior, Trivoli (Farmington HS) Caytie Green, junior, Aledo (Westmer HS) Breanne Young, sophomore, Arlington Heights (Hersey HS) Ashley Coleman, sophomore, Bloomington (Normal West HS) Kimberly Kajdzik, freshman, Addison (Driscoll Catholic HS) Kellie Neven, freshman, Monee (Peotone HS) Katie Neven, freshman, Monee (Peotone HS) Lauren Snyder, junior, Tinley Park (HS) Kim Nelson, junior, Peoria (Dunlap HS) Ashley Wilson, freshman, Oakwood (HS) Cathy Gilbert, sophomore, Hinsdale (Central HS) Sheena Selvey, sophomore, Prospect Heights (Wheeling HS).
