Mechanisms of the herbicides biodegradation

Abstract

Herbicides are the most effective and economical way to control weeds. Despite the development of herbicide-resistant weeds, herbicide industry is evolving and its use is increasing. During their use it is important to maintain safety conditions so not to cause health problems to people or pollute the environment. After the herbicide gets into the plant, a part of it is spent, and the rest is decomposed. The decomposition can be biological, that is to say, microbiological, chemical or with the help of UV light rays or from the visible spectra. In this paper biodegradation schemes of the most commonly used herbicides are presented and explained
