One unique rule from the first rule sheet stated "Do Not attempt to give the melon or gourd to Syswerda. He will punch you." Melon and Gourd 1993 or 1994­Present  This rule was later voided. A prime example of Taylor's thriving dorm culture is the annual Melon and Gourd tradition. Melon and Gourd originated in the Fall of 1993 or 1994 (the true date is contested to this day) from students Aaron Miller and Sid Zell as part of the 3rd West Wengatz  "Wild West  Week". On Monday,  the melon and the  gourd  are  put  into  play  and  must  be  carried  at  all  times. Throughout  the week, participants try  to avoid  being  tagged  lest  they be  forced  to carry  the  produce. Friday,  spectators  gather  to watch as waves  of  3WW  men  try  to  get  into  chapel  without  getting  tagged. Whoever  is  left with the fruit at  the end of this event must  take a  bite from their respective produce. @archives_tayloru
