Abstract

The maps collected in this volume were created and presented by the members of the International Cartographic Association (ICA) and displayed in the International Cartographic Exhibition, set up at the Italian Military Geographic Institute in Florence to accompany the Conference. The numerous works that were collected for the Florentine edition of the Exhibition, which are of exceptional scientific value and which show precious workmanship, testify the great daily efforts made by cartographers worldwide. They are also proof of the vitality and liveliness of a constantly changing scientific and professional sector, which is able to respond to actual and current needs. The products that were submitted, which were organised into different categories, were accompanied by a brief explanatory note on their technical characteristics, their nature and the objectives for which they were produced, written by the authors themselves
