El objetivo del artículo es analizar financieramente a la empresa Papeles Nacionales de
Colombia SA, con su sigla PANASA, la cual se dedica a la fabricación y comercialización de papel
y cartón y que por sus ingresos operativos ocupa la cuarta posición a nivel nacional dentro de las
compañías con la misma actividad (EMIS University, 2021). Se busca establecer la importancia
de la información para la toma de decisiones conociendo los conceptos de los indicadores
aplicados, a través de teorías documentadas de distintos autores, empleando el costo promedio
ponderado de capital (WACC), la rentabilidad de los activos que determina el rendimiento de
activos totales y el valor económico agregado (EVA) que comprueba si la compañía ha generado
valor. Se concluye que la empresa mejoró sus utilidades gracias a las restricciones implantadas
durante la pandemia covid-19, que obligó a que las empresas administraran de una manera
eficiente y eficaz sus finanzas, no sólo con el ánimo de sobrevivir, sino con la convicción de
aumentar el valor de las compañías para que sean competitivas, logrando así, que Papeles
Nacionales alcanzara más 10 puntos porcentuales en la rentabilidad de sus activos por encima de
la inflación con la que cerró el país en el año 2020, ya que venía destruyendo valor en los 3 periodos
anteriores 2017,2018 y 2019.
Con la reducción en el costo ponderado del capital que se viene presentando en el análisis de los
estados financieros de los últimos cuatro (4) años, menor gasto financiero y mayor productividad
y eficiencia en sus activos se espera mantener una tendencia positiva en sus indicadores financieros

of the information for decision-making by knowing the concepts of the applied indicators. Through
documented theories of different authors, using the weighted average cost of capital (WACC), the
profitability of the assets that determine the performance of total assets, and the economic value added
(EVA) which checks if the company has generated value. It is concluded the company improved its
profits due to the restrictions implemented during the covid-19 pandemic, which forced companies to
efficiently and effectively manage their finances. The purpose was not only with the aim of survival but
with the conviction of increasing the value of the companies to be competitive, thus achieving that
Papeles Nacionales reached more than 10 percentage points in the profitability of its assets above the
inflation with which the country closed in 2020 since it had been destroying value in the 3 previous
periods 2017, 2018 and 2019.
